EACH MIND MATTERS

A key partner organization of Active Minds, Each Mind Matters and its sister organization Sanamente represent California's mental health movement that advocates for mental health awareness by portraying the stories and voices of individuals who fight against stigma. With the help of the California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) and Prop. 63, the organization has reached underserved and diverse populations by providing resources and education about mental health stigma.

CRISIS TEXT LINE

The Crisis Text Line offers free, 24/7, confidential support to those in need of help. By texting “HOME” to 741741, testers will be connected to a trained Crisis Counselor volunteer. Crisis isn’t limited to only suicide, but any painful emotion in which support is needed. Through active listening and collaborative problem solving, testers are brought from a hot moment to a cool moment.

SUICIDE PREVENTION LIFELINE

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL)  is a leader in suicide prevention and mental health crisis care. By chatting or calling 1-800-273-TALK (8255), you or your loved one can receive quality prevention and crisis resources from a nearby counselor. Services are free, 24/7, and confidential. By supporting the NSPL, you will be joining the fight against suicide and raising awareness for suicide prevention!

NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS

NAMI is the nation’s biggest grassroots mental health organization committed to building better lives of millions of Americans who are affected by mental illness. Some of the services that NAMI provides are educational programs in order to support families, individuals, and educators to obtain the important resources that they need. NAMI also allows individuals who require emotional support to call their helpline. The number for the helpline is 1-800-950-NAMI (6264) or they can be reached at info@nami.org. The NAMI HelpLine can be reached Monday through Friday, 10 am–6 pm, ET. NAMI raises public awareness by hosting different events and activities, including Mental Illness Awareness Week and NAMIWalks.

AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION

AFSP gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education, and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. AFSP is committed to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Some of the different methods that AFSP raises awareness on this issue is educating the public about mental health and suicide prevention. One of their biggest missions is to support survivors of suicide loss and those affected by suicide.
AFSP advocated  for public policies in mental health and suicide prevention. One of the biggest events that AFSP hosts every year is the Out of the Darkness Walk. In this event, thousands of individuals all over the US raise awareness and funds that will save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

DIDI HIRSCH

Beginning in 1942, Didi Hirsch has been dedicated to providing free mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention services to communities that often face stigma and/or poverty. Sixteen years later, Didi Hirsch opened the nation's first Suicide Prevention Center and is the only one to provide comprehensive services to people affected by suicide. Additionally, they offer 24/7 multilingual crisis services, therapy, training in a variety of topics, support groups and much more.
